Buffy Fans: Slay-a-thon 2012…Supporting the Make-a-Wish Foundation

Here’s a SIGNAL BOOST for an event that you might want to know about, especially if you’re a Buffy fan who 1) live near Chicago, and 2) like to help make wishes come true.

The Slay-a-thon is an annual fundraising event for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  Basically, the participants sit in a private room at a restaurant in Chicago and watch episodes of Buffy and Angel for 12 hours, with games in-between.  They also do silent auctions for books donated by authors to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The silent auction items tend to be Buffy/Angel/Firefly related, or at least fall within the scope of Whedonism, although as far as books go.

Full Slay-a-thon details may be had at www.Slayathon.org. Event info from the Slayathon website:

  1. I may move to Chicago for such an awesome event.

I’ve been a very proud supporter and participant of Slay-A-Thon for just about the whole run, and I can’t begin to express how wounderful its ongoing success makes me feel. If you are in the region and interested in coming, don’t be shy! We have wall-to-wall fun, the food is good, the company is terrific, and the cause is sublime. Buffy would be proud of you for taking part! 🙂
